The latest teaser of the electric sedan even reveals the tail section which boasts a modern design language
The 2025 Volvo ES90 looks promising not just visually, but also in terms of specifications. A few days ago, the Swedish carmaker announced that the new electric sedan will possess the best computing power on any Volvo ever. That is due to the dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin setup. It will utilize Volvo’s Superset tech stack and support AI-based active safety features along with loads of other in-cabin amenities. Now, some details about the specifications have surfaced.

The software-defined vehicle will be underpinned by the SPA2 architecture which will also support the EX90. However, the Volvo ES90 will be one of the few cars to boast an 800-volt architecture. For the uninitiated, this configuration allows super-fast charging and weight reduction of the car since it enables the usage of thinner wires in the EV. At present, some Porsche, Tesla and Hyundai Group cars use this system.
Furthermore, Volvo is promising a 350 kW charging support. That is quite high considering the 800-volt system from Hyundai lies somewhere in the range of 235 kW of peak output. The Volvo ES90 will achieve a charging time from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. Moreover, it promises a range of 435 miles (700 km) on a single charge on the WLTP cycle. Despite the fact that WLTP is more generous than America’s EPA estimates, these are some healthy numbers.
Furthermore, the latest teasers highlight the tail section of the electric sedan. It gets the signature C-shaped LED taillamps on the extreme edges of the EV. However, one key distinction is the vertically oriented LED stop lamps mounted on the sides of the rear windshield. That will distinguish it from the other models in Volvo’s lineup. Finally, the Volvo lettering on the boot lid is also visible. More details will surface in times to come.
