This is the first-ever BEV from Suzuki which will also spawn a Toyota counterpart under their partnership
The much-awaited Suzuki e Vitara has finally been unveiled. At present, it has been revealed for the European market. It will be manufactured in Gujarat, India. Initially, the plan is to cater to Suzuki’s major global markets including Europe, Japan and India. Thereafter, it will spread to other markets like Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. It was initially showcased at the Auto Expo India in January 2023 and the Japan Mobility Show in October 2023.

Suzuki e Vitara Debuts
The concept model was christened the Suzuki eVX. Finally, the Japanese automaker decided to go with e Vitara, tribute to a prominent moniker in Suzuki’s automobile history. As per the official press release, Suzuki announced that the sales are expected to commence around summer 2025. Marking Suzuki’s first global BEV model, even Toyota will get it to sell in many international markets.
Developed on a new HEARTECT-e platform, the e Vitara gets a 2WD and a 4WD configuration. The latter will utilize the brand’s ALLGRIP-e technology featuring 2 independent eAxles at the front and rear. There will even be a Trail Mode which will apply brakes to spinning tires and distribute torque evenly to the opposite tire (LSD function). Hence, it is clear that the electric SUV will bear dedicated off-roading capabilities.
In terms of the specifications, the Suzuki e Vitara comes with two LFP battery pack options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The 4WD drivetrain will solely be available with the larger battery in top trims. With the smaller battery, the power and torque outputs are 106 kW (144 PS) / 189 Nm (140 lb-ft), while it ranges from 128 kW (174 PS) / 189 Nm (140 lb-ft) to 135 kW (183 PS) / 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) with the larger battery.
The latter is in the 4WD version. It has a ground clearance of a decent 180 mm (7.08 in.). The dimensions are 4,275 mm (168.3 in.), 1,800 mm (70.86 in.), 1,635 mm (64.37 in.) (L x W x H), while the wheelbase is a decent 2,700 mm (106.29 in.). This makes it a compact electric SUV which means that the pricing will be competitive. Learn Electric Cars Says
This is a momentous occasion for the Japanese automaker. It, along with Toyota, has been a bit reluctant to go all-in for electric cars. In hindsight, it turned out to be a prudent decision since EV sales growth has been slow in the last few months in the largest global markets like the U.S., China and Europe.
