Polestar 2 Ownership Experience After 100000 Miles

Polestar 2 Ownership Experience After 100,000 Miles – Good And Bad!

It is not every day that we get to hear from an EV owner who has completed 100,000 miles

A prominent automobile vlogger has shared his ownership experience after doing 100,000 miles (160,934 km) in his Polestar 2. The electric fastback is one of the earlier models from the Chinese-owned Swedish carmaker. Now, we know that battery health is one of the major areas in which most readers will be interested. Apart from that, the vlogger even discusses the condition of the cabin and exterior along with details about servicing. So, without any delay, let us jump right into it!

I must credit Robert Dunn at Aging Wheels courtesy of whom we are able to witness this video. He mentions that it took him around 2 and a half years to do 100,000 miles in the EV. He recently ran out of the battery warranty as well. Hence, he decided to conduct a battery healthy diagnostics test first and foremost. Interestingly, the battery health is still at a decent 88.8%. Also, he did the same test at 77,000 miles (123,919 km) where this number was 91.5%.

Now, battery degradation is a common phenomenon and nothing out of the ordinary. In the real world, this loss translates to somewhere around 20 miles (32 km) of range. One key thing Robert mentions is that he almost always maintains the state-of-charge (SoC) between 10% to 80%. It is a healthy practice for EV owners to maximize battery life. Therefore, this is great information that confirms a great battery lifecycle.

Apart from that, he has had regular services and repairs over the course of ownership including tires, windshield wipers, and some minor suspension issues which were all fixed under warranty free of cost. Also, he mentions a few noises from the suspension system still, but that is nothing major or concerning. On the inside, he says that the air conditioning malfunctioned a few times but was fixed with a simple restarting of the vehicle. Also, some areas inside the cabin are worn out, which is understandable. All in all, he has had an impressive ownership experience of the Polestar 2.

Such real-life experiences of actual EV owners are the best way to understand reality. Of course, we need to take most things online with a pinch of salt. Still, to have someone express his honest opinions about an EV he has driven for over 100,000 miles is ideal. I shall keep an eye out for more such cases in the future.
