Rivian Recalls 28,000 R1T And R1S EVs

As per the details online, some Rivian EVs are experiencing problems with one or both front turn signals. These could either remain unlit or not demonstrate flash as they should. This is not up to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Note that these turn signals are sourced from Myotek in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Somehow, these have been produced improperly.

If one or both turn signals stop working, a message is displayed on the instrument cluster. As a consequence, the other turn indicators will also start blinking twice as fast as they ideally should. Also, the turn signal sound will accelerate. During this recall, 27,882 vehicles have been impacted.

These include R1T models manufactured between July 10, 2024, and May 13, 2025, and R1S EVs made between April 29, 2024, and May 13, 2025. Interestingly, the EV maker stopped using this questionable turn signal from May 13 onwards. The investigation regarding this matter has been ongoing since February. Thankfully, no accidents or injuries have been reported so far due to this incident.

What is critical to know for the owners is that they will start getting notifications from July 25. The dealerships will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the turn signals if required. Even though this might not jeopardize the safety of anyone directly, it can create confusion on the roads.
