Ford F-150 Lightning Recalled

Around 30,000 Ford F-150 Lightning Electric Pickups Recalled

The iconic moniker has reclaimed the title of being the most popular electric pickup truck in the country from Tesla Cybertruck

In a slightly concerning turn of events, close to 30,000 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks are being recalled. A handful of these could encounter an issue with a faulty suspension. The electric iteration of the most successful pickup truck in the U.S. for the past 4 decades has continued the legacy into the electric era. After the initial excitement around the Tesla Cybertruck, Ford’s EV has demonstrated sustained growth, while the former’s demand has been diminishing.

Around 30,000 Ford F-150 Lightning Electric Pickups Recalled

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) received a letter last week informing that 29,501 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickups have been recalled. These include 20,528 units of the 2024 model and 8,973 units of the 2025 version.

The American auto giant mentioned that a few of these might have an improperly torqued nut on the ball joint of the front upper control arm. As a consequence, the arm can separate from the knuckle assembly. This can, in turn, cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Ford assumes that only 1% of the recalled vehicles will have this defect.

Just as a warning sign, if there is a “clunk or rattle noise” during the suspension operation, it is possible that the ball joint is loose or missing. As of May 16, there has only been a single incident with regard to this issue. It was also found out that the EVs produced between February 14, 2024 and April 14, 2025, are being recalled. Ford will inform the owners via Email.

As is mostly the case, after inspection, if there is a problem, the dealers will replace the knuckle and nut free of cost. The owners can expect a letter around June 9.
