Hyundai Ioniq 7 3-Row SUV Launch Confirmed

Hyundai Ioniq 3-Row SUV Confirmed For Later This Year

The Korean auto giant announced the 2025 model year changes to its portfolio which is when the plan for the 3-row Ioniq SUV was revealed.

The much-awaited Hyundai Ioniq 3-Row SUV will launch later this year, confirms Hyundai. During the 2025 model year announcement, the Korean carmaker mentioned that we will get a glimpse of the 3-row SUV later in 2024. In addition, the Ioniq 5 N will launch in the U.S. along with the 2025 model of the regular Ioniq 5. Even the 2025 Tucson PHEV and HEV will get facelifts. Remember, we were awaiting the debut of the production version of Seven CONCEPT in June. However, the Kia EV9’s Hyundai counterpart is still eluding us.

As per the official press release, Hyundai shares the plans for its entire lineup. However, what interests me the most is the details pertaining to the 3-row Ioniq SUV. While there is still confusion regarding the nomenclature of the electric SUV (Ioniq 7 or Ioniq 9), for this post, I shall be referring to it as the Ioniq 7. The Concept SEVEN was first showcased at the LA 2021 Auto Show. In the last year, we came across multiple occasions where the test mule was spotted.

In fact, it displayed a clear resemblance with the concept version. For instance, the heavily camouflaged test mule had Parametric LED headlamps along with LED DRLs up top. The alloy wheel design is rather basic. But I believe this won’t make it to the final production model. On the sides, there are flush-fitting door handles, black side pillars, and a long wheelbase. The tail section contains the vertically aligned LED taillamps.

Expected Specifications

Now, the specifications of the Hyundai Ioniq 3-row SUV have not been announced. But since Hyundai shares powertrains and architecture with Kia, we can safely assume that it will utilize the E-GMP architecture. The battery packs could be 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh. The maximum power output could range from 160 kW (215 hp) with the RWD iteration to 278 kW (378 hp) with the AWD version. The driving range could lie between 230 miles (370 km) to 304 miles (489 km).

With this announcement, we are finally certain to get the flagship electric SUV from Hyundai by the end of this year. As we advance, I believe the focus will be on more affordable products. That is where the recently-revealed Inster EV fits it. In fact, we have seen Hyundai’s sister concern, Kia about to launch its EV3 affordable electric car to cater to the masses. In the future, that is where the growth lies. However, Hyundai even has plans to introduce the Ioniq 6 N soon. Hence, it is a great time for Hyundai fanboys.
