2025 Zeekr 007 Fastest Charging EV

New Battery Can Charge Zeekr 007 From 10-80% In 10.5 Minutes

The Chinese carmaker has been offering batteries with impressive charging rates for a long time now.

The 2025 Zeekr 007, which will commence deliveries in China next week, will get a new battery with some incredible specs. The sub-brand of Geely claims that it will be able to juice up from 10% to 80% in a mere 10.5 minutes. That is the fastest charging times in a production vehicle in the world. Note that Zeekr is not new to this practice. The first-generation model of this golden battery already boasts a charging time of 13.5 minutes to go from 10% to 80%.

New Battery For 2025 Zeekr 007

Zeekr recently had Tech Day to showcase its product line for 2025. As a part of this presentation, this next-gen golden battery’s details were announced. Note that it uses the LFP (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) chemistry. With this battery pack, Zeekr takes the tag of having the fastest-charging EV in the world yet again. The Chinese auto giant believes that with this battery, range anxiety will be a thing of the past.

In order to achieve this almost impossible-sounding charging time, Zeekr revised the BMS (Battery Management System). In fact, in this video by China’s EV Car on YouTube, the real-time charging process has been recorded. The visuals showcase the battery charging to offer a range of 500 km (310 miles) in about 14 minutes. While the next-gen battery doesn’t support higher charging rates, it is able to hold the high charging rates for longer durations.

That is what leads to a significant increase in the charging times. One catch is that Zeekr used its V3 ultra-fast charging equipment here. This is able to clock speeds of upto 800 kW. Needless to say, such chargers won’t be available easily anywhere in the world at least in the next couple of years, albeit the charging infrastructure is being developed rapidly. The tweaked BMS even allows consistent DC charging times in adverse weather conditions.

For instance, even if the temperatures drop to -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit), the charging from 10% to 80% will come up in around 30 minutes. That addresses a critical point of contention about EV batteries performing miserably in extreme cold conditions. All these updates enhance the appeal of the Chinese EV giant considerably. Even if this is not the norm today, we can see where things are headed in the future.
