Hyundai’s Kia EV9 3-row electric counterpart will assume the role of the flagship product in its global portfolio
The new Hyundai Ioniq 9 has finally been officially teased. First showcased as a SEVEN concept at the LA Auto Show back in 2019, the large electric SUV had been spotted testing multiple times. Hyundai says that its “Aerosthetic” design combines aerodynamic performance and aesthetic appeal. Apart from that, the EV boasts spacious and high-tech interiors to pamper the occupants. We will keep getting consistent teaser videos until the global debut in November.

Hyundai Ioniq 9 Teased
While the new teaser image doesn’t reveal much, the silhouette informs us that the exterior will draw inspiration from the SEVEN concept. Therefore, the fascia will wear the trademark full-width LED light bar along with Hyundai’s latest “Parametric Pixels” design philosophy. The latter incorporates LED modules stacked vertically on the extreme edges of the bumper.
The side profile indicates a clutter-free profile with a single sharp crease on the door panels and large alloy wheels. I reckon the alloys will bear an aerodynamic design pattern. Apart from that, the three-quarter section will have a distinct chrome embellishment around the window frame.
What I am admittedly curious about is the tail section. The SEVEN concept had an unusual light bar which covers the width of the tailgate along with surrounding the entire rear section including the sides and roof. The Hyundai logo has been slapped in the middle with black panels. Finally, the bumper is barely visible. Nevertheless, clear images and videos will start appearing on Hyundai’s social media channels shortly.
In terms of the specifications, it is a logical assumption to think that it will borrow the battery packs and electric motors from the Kia EV9. Obviously, the E-GMP architecture will underpin the large 3-row electric SUV. We can expect two battery pack alternatives – 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh. The power figures could range from 215 hp to 576 hp depending on 2WD or all-wheel-drive configurations.
