The new platform is also capable of offering 690 miles (1,100 km) of range for REEVs (Range Extender Electric Vehicles)
Stellantis has launched its all-new STLA Frame platform which boasts some incredible best-in-class capabilities. Ram and Jeep vehicles will be the first ones to use this new platform. In fact, this is one of four global BEV platforms powering Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategy. We have already seen STLA Medium and STLA Large launch in July 2023 and January 2024, respectively. All Stellantis global platforms are designed and engineered for extended lifecycles via the interchangeability of battery cell chemistry, EDMs, power inverters and software control.

Stellantis STLA Frame Platform
As per the official press release from Stellantis, the STLA Frame is a multi-energy platform for full-size body-on-frame pickup trucks and SUVs. It can deliver a class-leading range of up to 690 miles (1,100 km) with the REEV and 500 miles (800 km) with the BEV. Not only that, taking care of typical pickup truck traits, it is also capable of towing a maximum of 14,000 pounds (6,350 kg) and has a payload rating of 2,700 pounds (1,224 kg). This platform even supports water fording up to 24 inches (610 mm).
Note that the STLA Frame platform will underpin full-size pickup trucks, light commercial vehicles and SUVs. As a result, it is compatible with full BEV, REEV, internal combustion, hybrid and hydrogen propulsion systems. The REEV system combines a battery, front and rear electric drive modules (EDMs), an on-board generator and an internal combustion engine. This allows drivers to haul or tow heavy loads over extended distances without sacrificing range.
Furthermore, it can accommodate liquid-cooled battery packs ranging from 159 kWh to more than 200 kWh. Stellantis designed and assembled front and rear EDMs (Electric Drive Modules), rated up to 250 kW, deliver all-wheel-drive capability and can propel a vehicle from 0 to 60 mph (96 kmph) in 4.4 seconds. To tackle different load and driving conditions, it can accommodate flexible suspension designs including air suspension. Some key figures associated with the Stellantis STLA Frame platform are:
- Overall Length Range – 216 – 234 inches (5,488 – 5,941 mm)
- Overall Width Range – 81.2 – 83.6 inches (2,062 – 2,124 mm)
- Wheelbase Range – 123.7 – 145.3 inches (3,143 – 3,690 mm)
- Ground Clearance Range – 6.6 – 10.3 inches (168 – 262 mm)
- Maximum Tire Diameter – 32.8 / 33 inches (834 / 838 mm)
Finally, in BEV configuration, this platform supports 800-volt DC fast charging up to 350 kW. This propels the battery to be juiced up for 100 miles (161 km) of range in a mere 10 minutes for the BEVs. For REEVs, this is good for a range of up to 50 miles (80 km) in 10 minutes with a 400-volt DC fast charger of 175 kW. Using bi-directional charging capability, STLA Frame platform-based EVs can power external appliances including home and electricity grid.
Speaking on this occasion, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said, “Like STLA Medium and STLA Large, STLA Frame combines an unprecedented range with new levels of capability and performance to offer best-in-class range, payload and towing for our customers who need reliable and powerful trucks and SUVs, to haul their families or power their businesses. With full EV and extended-range EV tech coming soon, we’re bringing ‘no compromise’ solutions to buyers who may be hesitant on trying their first electric vehicle. We’re proud of this engineering marvel and look forward to seeing it come to life in our upcoming product blitz on Jeep and Ram.”
