The Kia EV4 will be available in both, sedan and hatchback configurations to cater to a wide range of potential customers
The upcoming Kia EV4 has been spotted in spy media on multiple occasions in recent times. However, it is wearing a heavy camouflage in every instance. Still, the silhouette and the modern design philosophy of the Korean auto giant is seeping through. With the recent slump in EV demand, affordability seems to be the answer. The Hyundai Motor Group is definitely trying to achieve that with their affordable EVs planned for the coming months.

Upcoming Kia EV4
One intriguing observation in the spy images in the past was that we will get the Kia EV4 in a hatchback, as well as a sedan avatar. Essentially, the Korean car marque will aim to address customers with varied preferences. Also, that will make the EV4 a rival to electric cars from different segments. For reference, the EV4 will bear dimensions somewhere in between the recently unveiled EV3 and the existing EV5.
In terms of the design, the front section will most likely carry a bold and striking appearance with LED DRLs and headlamps which we have seen in the EV3. Also, the short overhang and flowing bonnet line highlight its compactness and slippery body. On the sides, the aero alloy wheels, sloping roofline towards the rear and flush-fitting door handles are the key components. At the rear, it will most likely boast a modern layout with a connected LED taillamp cluster.
Talking about the powertrains, while nothing has been officially announced yet, I believe it will borrow the configurations from its siblings. Hence, it could come with a 58.3 kWh and an 81.4 kWh battery pack. The former will be a 2WD setup with a maximum power of 201 hp, whereas the latter will incorporate an all-wheel-drive configuration with much higher power and torque. In fact, it will form the basis of a performance-focused GT variant at a later stage. Needless to mention, it will utilize Hyundai’s flexible E-GMP architecture. More details will emerge in the coming months.

The Hyundai Motor Group (including Hyundai, Kia and Genesis) has been enjoying a successful run in the global EV space with their E-GMP products. These have attained praise from the critics and customers alike. Going forward, affordability will be the key to crack the mass market. As a result, we are witnessing many legacy carmakers and new startups heading in that direction.
Most of them have ambitious plans to expand their footprint across every section of the customer base with more affordable offerings. EVs like the Kia EV3, EV4, and Hyundai Inster EV are the ones the Korean conglomerate is banking on to fuel future growth. We shall have to wait and watch how this strategy pans out.
