Volvo ES90 Electric Sedan To Come With The Best Computing Power On Any Volvo

The Swedish auto giant announced 5 new products for 2025 which is great news for Volvo loyalists

The Volvo ES90 electric sedan will debut on March 5 along with loads of new-age tech functionalities. We live in a world of AI and advanced computing technologies. Vehicles have, essentially, become moving gadgets and connected devices. Hence, talking computing power while addressing electric vehicles is the norm these days. The Swedish carmaker will also implement a dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin setup to the ES90 for the first time in its lineup.

Volvo ES90 Electric Sedan

The fully electric sedan is a software-defined vehicle. It utilizes Volvo’s Superset tech stack and new Nvidia hardware which makes it the most powerful Volvo ever with regard to core computing power. Note that it will continue to use the SPA2 architecture which also underpins its SUV sibling, the EX90. The update SPA3 platform will be available from 2026 with the EX60. Also, the new dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin will even be offered on the EX90 for the existing customers via a complementary upgrade.

Among other things, this configuration will support AI-based active safety features and sensors. These will enhance Volvo’s “Safe Space Technology”. The equipment list includes 1 LiDAR, 5 Radars, 8 Cameras, 12 Ultrasonic Sensors and an “advanced driver understanding system inside the car”. Furthermore, the Superset tech stack will incorporate hardware and software modules and systems.

These will ensure software updates to “continuously evolve and improve over time” in aspects like safety, connectivity and performance. Also worth mentioning is that the Geely-owned car marque will update the ICE iteration, the S90, substantially to keep the option open for customers. As per the official photo of the Volvo ES90, it will carry the trademark “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlamps, a sleek roofline, a split taillamp setup at the rear, additional LEDs on the sides of the rear window, flush-fitting door handles and a roof-mounted LiDAR.
