Hyundai Ioniq 6 Facelift Spied With A Redesigned Fascia

The prominent electric sedan from the Hyundai Ioniq series will even get a monstrous N avatar soon.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 facelift has been spied undergoing road testing in Europe. The Ioniq 6 has achieved decent success across international markets. In fact, both Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 have received immense appreciation from critics and potential customers alike. Note that while the Ioniq 5 is a crossover, the Ioniq 6 bears a fastback streamliner silhouette reminiscent of the retro Hyundai cars. Let us glance at the details of the upcoming model.

These images have been shared by The Korean Car Blog and Baldauf. As per the information online, these spy shots have been captured from the Hyundai Motor Technical Center in Germany. The front fascia is visible carrying a few design tweaks. This includes perhaps a split-LED headlamp cluster. That will mark a departure from the single-unit swept-back design the current model bears.

As expected, the entire EV is wrapped in a black camouflage to keep it from prying eyes. Also showcasing a distinction from the existing model, the bonnet is fresh. In fact, its shape seems to be the reason why the headlamp cluster is now on the bumper. Furthermore, there might be an LED light bar just at the end of the bonnet line culminating into LED DRLs on either side.

Another key alteration will be the new alloy wheels. That is a common practice among carmakers with every facelift. Nevertheless, I expect these to be aerodynamically designed to keep the drag coefficient low to maximize efficiency. Apart from that, it could get the bigger 84 kWh battery pack this time around just like the Ioniq 5. This fourth-generation battery pack promises increased range. It could be in the vicinity of 650-700 km on a single charge. The details pertaining to charging times and acceleration will surface in due course of time.

Production Plans

The Korean auto giant has plans to start the production of the first prototype in September. In fact, the development of the mass production model will commence by February 2025 and the final production will start by May 2025. In Europe, the manufacturing will start from August onwards, while in North America, it will happen in November 2025.

Initially, the production will begin at Hyundai’s Asan plant in South Korea. The production target at this plant for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is 66,000 units annually. This includes 6,000 units of the performance-focused Ioniq 6 N. Later on, to qualify for the tax credit, the production or assembly can take place at Hyundai’s New Electric Vehicle Plant in Georgia. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N could go onto the assembly line by September 2025.

Hyundai is working tirelessly to keep its portfolio fresh with all sorts of EVs including affordable, performance and mass market. That is what I find the most impressive aspect of the Korean giant.

It is constantly evolving its plans and operations as per the demand and opportunity in various markets across the globe. The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 have been immensely successful. To compete in the performance division, the N versions are engineered pretty craftily. Apart from that, the likes of the Inster EV will cater to price-conscious potential buyers. We already know that the flagship 3-row electric SUV is also about to launch. Hence, Hyundai wants to work on all major segments simultaneously.
