The Hyundai Inster EV Cross doesn’t bear mechanical alterations but gets a slew of aesthetic customizations
Hyundai Inster EV Cross has been unveiled as a tough and rugged iteration of the tiny electric SUV. Interestingly, the exterior facade carries all the modifications as the powertrain remains the same. Essentially, it will be catered towards the urban users who don’t often go for hardcore off-tarmac excursions. For the unversed, the Inster EV is the electric avatar of the Casper from the Korean auto giant, albeit a bit longer.

Hyundai Inster EV Cross Revealed
You won’t have any trouble telling the Hyundai Inster EV Cross apart from the regular model. Basically, the entire exterior styling is fresh. It caters to those who want the look of an adventurous machine. The Inster EV Cross gains tough components including new front and rear bumpers, a functional roof rack, new 17-inch alloy wheels, sturdy skid plates, matte black claddings all over the body, a roof basket to carry camping equipment and sporting gear among other things.
Furthermore, the adventurous electric SUV is even available with exclusive color options to distinguish it from the stock versions. The officially advertised color theme is Amazonas Green Matte. We have seen this kind of color theme from Hyundai in many global products which are catered to adventure seekers. Additionally, on the inside, the Inster EV Cross boasts a special grey cloth with a lime-yellow accent trim combination on the dashboard.
Note that the powertrain remains unaltered. There are two variants on sale – Standard Range w/ 42 kWh battery pack and Long Range w/ 49 kWh battery pack. The latter has a claimed WLTP range of 355 km (220 mi.) on a single charge and supports 120 kW DC fast charging. This allows a 10-80% recharge in 30 minutes. The electric motor generates 71.1 kW (97 PS) and 84.5 kW (115 PS) of peak power, respectively with identical torque of 147 Nm (108 lb-ft). As options, one can even opt for a battery heating system and high-efficiency heat pump.

Hyundai is aiming to cater to a large customer base going forward. To achieve that, affordability is the key. Hence, we see the modern EVs with tons of modern equipment and enough performance and range to enable everyday chores. Since the initial wave of EVs is over, car marques need to move to mass-market affordable models. That is exactly what Hyundai Motor Group (incl. Hyundai and Kia) is working on.
