The flagship electric sedan from the German carmaker witnessed a monumental decline in yearly sales in the U.S. last year
The Mercedes EQS is getting ready for a second minor facelift after receiving a few months ago. Many carmakers are reeling under the aftermath of low demand for EVs last year. In fact, we saw numerous auto giants re-assessing their strategies for the immediate future with regard to sales projections and new models.
Even the largest EV maker in the world, Tesla, witnessed a yearly decline in sales for the first time in over a decade of its existence. That should inform you how challenging the times were. However, that is not to say that the overall EV sales were down. It’s just that the growth was not as rapid as anticipated. To spur demand, the German car marque is trying to update the EQS even further.

Mercedes EQS Is Getting A Second Facelift
As per the latest spy shots, the semi-camouflaged electric sedan was spotted undergoing testing. Now, even though most exterior elements appear to be the same as the latest model, one can witness an update to the headlamps. They incorporate the new-age star graphics which have been spotted in many other prototypes like the CLA, S-Class, GLE and GLS.
Even though we saw the starlights at the front, going by what the latest Mercedes models get, the final production-spec trim could even get these graphics for the taillamps. This minor update comes after the electric sedan already got an AMG Line front bumper and a redesigned grille similar to the one found in the S-Class last year.
At the time, the EV boasted a hood ornament along with interior updates with more comfortable seats and additional chrome. The modifications were not just limited to the aesthetics but even extended to the battery. The capacity was increased to 118 kWh which resulted in an additional 51 miles (82 km) of range on a single charge as per WLTP. Now, with another minor aesthetic alteration, it will be interesting to see how people react to it.
