Over the last few months, we have been witnessing the test mule of the electric SUV. It was being pushed to its limits in harsh environments. Waiting List For New Range Rover Electric Reaches 57,000
Over the past few months, Range Rover has been sharing the number of interested buyers on the waiting list. In November 2024, there were 48,000 entries. However, it has already reached 57,000, indicating the surging interest as the launch nears. This was announced at the third-quarter earnings call this week. The Tata Motors-owned British luxury car marque has said that we will experience the electric SUV this year.
Reading through the official press release confirms that the demand for the existing Range Rover PHEVs has witnessed a massive boom in Q3. There was a colossal 163% surge in sales of hybrid Range Rover SUVs in Q3. This is a vivid sign that customers are interested in the electrified models from the luxury auto giant. Having said that, EVs are a completely different proposition altogether. To have no backup of gasoline can be concerning for a whole lot of consumers.
Still, Range Rover has promised that the upcoming EV will be the most capable luxury EV on the market. That is a tall claim. This could be on the basis of the cutting-edge tech that will be on offer. For instance, its new Intelligent Torque Management system distributes the wheel slip management task directly to each individual electric drive control unit. This reduces the torque reaction time at each wheel from around 100 milliseconds to as little as 1 millisecond. That is how it shined in the unforgiving sand dunes of the UAE.
