The electric cars from Hyundai are already extremely popular in most parts of the world and an even more compelling variant is on its way.
A more affordable variant of the popular Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kona EV is available in Korea. Note that all three EVs from Hyundai will now get an E-Value+ trim. What’s quite impressive is that they will use the same battery as the standard models. Therefore, the cost-cutting will be in other areas. In this manner, the owners can still expect a decent performance and range figures.

Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 & Kona EV To Get Affordable Variant
A Hyundai spokesperson said, “We have prepared a practical trim that will expand the range of choices and lower the barrier to purchasing an electric vehicle.” This is aimed at making the EVs more accessible to a wider range of potential buyers. This will be a huge boost to the demand in addition to the upcoming new affordable electric cars from the Hyundai Motor Group and its subsidiaries.
This Hyundai Ioniq 5 E-Value+ version boasts a range of 229 miles (368 km) in Korea. Similarly, the E-Value+ avatars of Ioniq 6 and Kona Electric will offer a range of up to 228 miles (367 km) and 193 miles (311 km), respectively. These are decent numbers for those who use EVs for relatively short distances every day. Also, the price of the Ioniq 5 in this variant is $35,200 (47 million won), for the Ioniq 6, the price is $35,190 (46.95 million won), while for the Kona Electric, it is $31,000 (41.42 million won).
Interestingly, these are prices before any government subsidy. After applying the incentives, the price drops to around $22,500 (30 million won) for the Kona Electric. This is a huge difference in comparison to the regular model. For reference, the Ioniq 5 retails for $41,800 in the U.S. Moreover, the Ioniq 6 has a price tag of $37,500 in the U.S. Therefore, if these new trims make it to the U.S. or other international markets, they can really disrupt the market.

Going forward, if there are more affordable versions of these, even more consumers will get access to the EV range. We shall have to wait to see which markets get this new trim in times to come.
