Hyundai Staria Electric Minivan Seen Undisguised

The Hyundai Staria is already available in ICE and hybrid guises but a fully electric passenger vehicle iteration still eludes it

The Hyundai Staria electric minivan has been spotted without camouflage recently. It will be the first electric minivan from the Korean auto giant. Staria is not an unknown moniker from Hyundai. There are many iterations of Staria across multiple international markets. These include limousine, ambulance, minibus, minivan, van, pickup, etc. In fact, the hybrid avatar was only launched last year. For now, let us take a look at the details of what we see.

These images from Clien were snapped at a parking lot somewhere in South Korea. However, what is quite shocking is the fact that there is not an ounce of covering to conceal its identity. As a consequence, we are able to experience the upcoming electric minivan vividly. I must admit it looks almost identical to the regular Staria save for some distinct elements to set this electric version apart.

The front fascia contains a sleek LED light strip which runs the width of the car. Moreover, the vertically-aligned LED lighting on the extreme edges of the front profile lends it a modern appearance. There is a black slot for registration plate in the middle with the charging socket offset on to one side. Right below that, the electric minivan gets two air vents which are neatly concealed within the black panel.

Another key exterior highlight is the dual-tone paint theme with the top half painted black. The side section bears a creaseless body with black handles. Also, the black alloy wheels elevate the premium quotient of the minivan. The details pertaining to the specifications are scarce. Still, we can expect 215 hp and 350 Nm of maximum power and torque judging by what the ST1 and eMoovy make.

We anticipate the 4th-generation 84 kWh battery pack from the Hyundai with an 800-volt architecture and V2L capabilities. This is the same battery which powers the latest Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Being a Hyundai, the interior will feature the latest tech and convenience amenities including ADAS active safety suite, large screens for infotainment and driver’s instrument cluster, and more. The production is slated to commence next year.

Hyundai has been selling some of the most popular EVs across various international markets in the last couple of years. These include Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 9. Note that electric cars from Kia also borrow battery and powertrains from these cars. These are the EV6 and EV9. With an electric minivan in the lineup, the Korean auto giant wants to expand its footprint across new avenues to offer a complete mobility solution for all sorts of buyers.
