Kia EV6 GT Facelift Gets More Range And New Design

The Korean giant is refreshing the GT variant after the regular EV6 was updated earlier this year

The Kia EV6 GT facelift has been spotted sans camo for the first time ever. I had reported the spy images of the heavily camouflaged version some time ago. As the debut nears, the performance electric sports car has started to surface online in all its glory. Note that the Kia EV6 GT is among the most affordable sports cars on the market at $61,000. With the facelift, we might witness a slight premium over this starting price.

Kia EV6 GT Facelift Spotted

The spy images have been released by shorts_car on Instagram. These pics are crystal clear and reveal the upcoming sports EV in all its glory. At the front, the first update I noticed was the tweaked LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), sleek new LED lights with Kia’s “Star Map Signature Lighting” and redesigned LED taillamps. Apart from that, the overall stance, silhouette and exterior elements like the bumper have borrowed inspiration from the latest Kia EVs like the EV9 and EV3.

The Kia EV6 GT facelift will even get the larger new fourth-gen battery which we have already seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and its derivatives. As per the Korean standards, this battery pack increased the range of the new EV6 from 295 miles (475 km) to 307 miles (494 km). Other crucial amenities that will be added to the EV6 GT facelift is the Kia’s latest ccNC infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch screens – one for the infotainment and one for the driver’s instrument gauge.

The Kia EV6 GT facelift will get a bigger 84 kWh battery pack (up from 77.4 kWh) which will feed two motors for an AWD configuration. The power and torque outputs are likely to remain the same at 577 hp and 546 lb-ft (740 Nm), respectively. With a 350 kW DC ultra-fast charger and 800-volt support, the battery can be juiced up from 10% to 80% in a mere 18 minutes. It will be interesting to see if it is able to better its 0-60 mph (97 kmph) acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.
