New Kia EV9 GT Debuts – Specs
The Kia EV9 GT carries two electric motors – 160 kW at the front and 270 kW at the rear – for a combined power output of 501 hp (368 kW). This marks a substantial 122 hp (89.7 kW) increase in comparison to the GT-Line’s 379 hp (278.7 kW). As per internal testing, the acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (96 kmph) comes up in just 4.3 seconds. Note that the GT-Line does it in 5 seconds. The ground clearance is a handy 7.8 inches (198 mm), while the towing capacity is 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg). It even gets a standard Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) simulating the experience of a regular automatic transmission.
In-cabin electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD) works in concert with VGS to replicate the sounds of the gear shifts as the EV9 GT accelerates. There is also an electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) as standard. With the 800-volt ultra-fast charging capabilities, the battery takes 25 minutes to go from 10% to 80%. What is also standard is the NCAS charge port with access to over 35,000 DC fast chargers across the U.S. The EV9 GT is shod with 285/45R-21 high-performance Continental tires wrapped around exclusive 21-inch alloy wheels.
