It seems like the tradition of Tesla delaying its plans after concrete announcements will go on until eternity
The Tesla Cybertruck Range Extender has been delayed yet again. We know the strong relationship between the American EV giant and delays. Unfortunately, the pattern is so consistent that we barely find it surprising at all. Elon Musk has taken a lot of flak for making tall promises and then being unable to keep them. The Cybertruck launch was a running joke for around 4 years. Announced in 2019, it only saw the light of day at the end of 2023. Here’s hoping the Range Extender iteration of the Tesla Cybertruck doesn’t take that long!

Tesla Cybertruck Range Extender Delayed
If you would’ve visited the Tesla website a few days ago, it said that the Cybertruck Range Extender will arrive in early 2025. However, now that has changed to mid-2025. Hence, the delay is already for a couple of months at least. Furthermore, there is still a long way to go before mid-2025. It is not entirely out of the question that we still have to wait longer.
Apart from that, there are also a few changes to the actual Range Extender specifications. Initially, the details confirmed that the Cybertruck all-wheel-drive trim with Range Extender will have 470+ miles (756 km) of range. However, even that has now been updated to 445+ miles (716 km). Cybertruck AWD with all-terrain tires variant marks an increase in range from 314 miles (505 km) to 430+ miles (692 km) with the range extender. With the ideal wheel/tire configuration, the tri-motor Cyberbeast shows a range of 440+ miles (708 km) with the range extender.
For the unversed, the Tesla Cybertruck Range Extender is an additional battery pack which will be installed inside the cargo bed of the electric pickup truck. Moreover, it needs to be fitted at the official Tesla service center by professional mechanics. Finally, you will need to part with a significant $16,000 to buy it. That is the price you need to pay to get that extra safety net when you are out and about in the wild or towing a trailer over long distances.

Tesla Cybertruck is already a unique pickup truck in the way it is designed. The stainless steel body is something straight out of a sci-fi movie. But things like this range extender package make it functionally unique too. Now it remains to be seen, first of all, when we will actually see it in the flesh. Secondly, I am curious to see how many Cybertruck owners actually spend that kind of money for those higher-range figures. Let us keep an eye out for more details as and when they emerge.
