Tesla Cybertruck To Get Rock Sliders And Battery Pack Armor
Being a truck, you would expect it to bear rugged qualities. The all-wheel-drive configuration is certainly the main requirement for such events. However, it is also critical to equip the EV with protective gear to take care of the vehicle components. That is where elements like rock sliders and battery armors come into the picture. The former protects the sides of the underbody of the vehicle.
On the other hand, a dedicated battery pack armor is of utmost value during off-roading adventures. Battery is the single most expensive component of any electric car. In fact, it often amounts to around 40% of the total price of an EV. Hence, its protection is imperative, particularly when the surface is treacherous. In fact, the Rivian R1T already offers underbody protection as a part of the off-road package.
However, with the Tesla Cybertruck, this option is not even available as an additional accessory, which is a shame. Cybertruck’s lead engineer, Wes Morrill, took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that the electric pickup truck will soon get new armor for the battery pack and be offered with rock sliders. Note that buyers can currently purchase things like crossbars, jump seats for the tailgate, truck-mounted tents, tailgate ramps, etc. as part of the accessories. These two new additions will make the Cybertruck even more rugged.
