The demand was already low in the last few months, which spells concern for the American EV giant going forward
Amidst the recently announced high tariffs, the prices of Tesla EVs in Canada have become significantly more expensive. The last few months have been rough for Tesla and Elon Musk. The Tesla chief lent robust support to Donald Trump in the U.S. elections. In fact, he contributed over $250 million to Trump’s campaign. However, after coming to power, Trump announced massive tariffs on many nations across the globe.

Tesla EV Prices in Canada Rise Due to Increased Tariffs
In response, most countries put counter tariffs on the U.S. as well. In a similar vein, as Donald Trump raised tariffs on Canadian goods, Canada did the same, which has resulted in considerably higher prices of Tesla cars in Canada. The demand situation was already not ideal in the last few months. With this price hike, the Canadian buyers will certainly have to move away to other brands.
Surprisingly, the prices of Tesla EVs have gone up by up to a substantial 22%. Here is a list of the new prices of prominent Tesla models on sale in Canada post the new tariffs:

U.S. President Donald Trump has been dropping threats to annex Canada publicly lately. That, along with the fact that Elon Musk said that “Canada is not a real country”, has put off many Canadian car buyers from going for Tesla cars in the last few months anyway. With the huge rise in prices on new cars due to high tariffs, it could mean a total demand collapse for Tesla. Let us see how things pan out going forward.

Donald Trump’s tariff war has created a lot of tension between many countries. While the major tussle was with China, all other countries have been subjected to increased tariffs. I must also mention here that the increased prices are not just limited to cars, but to many other goods across various industries. It will be interesting to see how Canadians react to the new prices of Tesla EVs.
