The Kia EV4 concept was revealed at the EV Day last October and we could see the launch in 2025.
The affordable Kia EV4 electric sedan has been spotted testing in Europe. The Korean auto giant is on a rampage to introduce an affordable range of EVs in the immediate future. Carmakers are at a crossroads, trying to figure out which route to take next. The initial huge wave of electrification seems to be plateauing. To involve the masses, affordability is the key. That is why more and more legacy carmakers, as well as startups, are working on low-cost electric cars. Hyundai and Kia are among the top players among the established car marques trying to achieve that.

Kia EV4 Affordable Electric Sedan Spotted
The visuals have been out for a while now. The first spotting occurred somewhere in South Korea about a month ago. In fact, the video is available on the SHORTS CAR channel on YouTube. It captures the heavily camouflaged electric sedan plying on public roads. The broad tail section and vertically oriented LED taillamps are evident in the spy video. Apart from that, the distinct roof-mounted spoiler is also visible.
Going by the concept model, the front fascia will carry the ‘Opposites United’ design language reminiscent of the latest Kia electric cars. Peeping through the camouflage, one could see the sharp vertical LED DRLs on the extreme edges of the sleek bumper. We have already seen such LED DRLs on the EV9 and the recently launched Kia EV3. Therefore, the EV4 will be in line with the rest of the field.
The side profile is rather sophisticated with bare minimum cuts and creases. The trademark aero alloy wheels elevate the road presence of the side profile. Now the concept avatar has a sloping roofline but this spy video shows a relatively ‘regular’ rear section. Still, the electric sedan might combine the tail sections of a crossover and a sedan.
Talking about the powertrain, chances are that it could borrow the batteries and electric motor from the EV3. Hence, we can expect either a 58.3 kWh or an 81.4 kWh battery pack. In the EV3, these provide a range of 430 km (267 miles) and 599 km (372 miles), respectively. The power and torque outputs stand at a decent 201 PS (150 kW) and 283 Nm (209 lb-ft), respectively. On the inside, the resemblance with the EV3 is expected. In fact, we might see a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 5.3-inch climate control console. More details will keep emerging with time.

Learn Electric Cars Says
I feel that affordability is the name of the game going forward. To entice new buyers, price remains among the biggest hurdles that needs fixing. Sure, the infrastructure and range anxiety are still massive challenges. Expectedly, that will take some time. But launching affordable EVs could directly boost the demand for electric cars. We see most legacy carmakers hinting and working on low-cost EV technology including batteries and platforms.
Hyundai and Kia are among the most successful car companies in this electric era of mobility. Their E-GMP architecture has spawned some of the most critically acclaimed models in the last couple of years. Now, they are shifting their focus to the relatively more affordable segment of the market. We shall keep an eye out for more details on these upcoming electric cars.
