XPeng P5 Electric Car – Range, Specs, Features & More

XPeng P5 is the more affordable cousin of the flagship P7 both of which already sell in huge numbers in China. While the P7 is exported to Norway, the P5 is set to launch in the European market soon.

XPeng P5 is an electric compact car (sedan) which is popularly known as the mini P7 with impressive specs, range and features. For the uninitiated, XPeng is an established EV maker in China that sold over 34,400 units in Q2 2022 alone. It sells the P7 premium sedan and G3 compact SUV in the European markets and plans to expand its international portfolio with P5 arriving there soon. The  P5 offers a ton high-tech functions and impressive specs which we shall take a look at now.

For the Chinese market, the P5 comes with a FWD version that comes with 3 drive modes – Eco, Normal and Sport and 3 levels of regenerative braking enabling single-pedal driving. Also, there are tiny solar panels installed on the roof for some additional juice from the sun, but it is not too extensive.

The vertically-oriented 15.6-inch Infotainment Display takes the centre stage with a 12.3-inch Driver’s Instrument Display with all the vital information, continuous metallic vents running across the dashboard with cutouts for AC vents, premium audio system with pop-out speakers on the sides of the dashboard, Panoramic Sunroof, Leather Upholstery with Heated Seats, Cabin Fragrance, Mini-Fridge behind the rear seats, Wireless Charging, Solar Roof, V2L (Vehicle to Load), equipment to make a complete bed inside the cabin with mattresses and projector for huge display during camping trips and much more.

XPILOT 3.5 Autonomous Driving

As a part of its impressive XPILOT 3.5 technology, the P5 comes equipped with 2 Lidar sensors, 32 sensors, 5 millimetre wave radars, 12 ultrasoninc sensors, 13 cameras for autonomous driving and other ADAS functions like Forward Collision Prevention, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change and Keep Assist, High Beam Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and much more. This is a trademark tech available with the P5. The launch in the Netherlands is planned soon with the starting price of €48,000 ($47,800).
