Kia EV2 Launch in January 2026
During the recent Q4 and full-year 2024 earnings call, Kia announced the launch of the electric SUV in January 2026. In fact, we also know that it will be manufactured at the Zilina plant in Slovakia, which is its first production facility in Europe. Kia CEO Ho-Sung Song said to Autocar that the EV has a target price of around $30,000 in Europe. However, in its native market of South Korea, it could start at $15,000.
Clearly, the Korean car marque is targeting the affordable segment of the market. In fact, recently, we got a glimpse of a heavily camouflaged Kia EV2 as a test mule. It won’t be wrong to assume that it will borrow a lot of elements from Kia’s latest Opposites United design philosophy. We have seen this on the new EV3 and EV5 too. Additionally, there is no reason to believe it will deviate from the E-GMP architecture which underpins most EVs from the Hyundai Motor Group.
Just like its latest EVs, the interior of the Kia EV2 will bear modern tech and convenience amenities. To be honest, looking at what Kia has been offering in its latest products in the cabin makes us appreciate it, especially considering the price points it is operating at. Hence, we can expect the new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system. This includes dual 12.3-inch displays – one for the driver’s instrument cluster and one for infotainment. With time, more details will keep surfacing.
