Volvo Announces 5 Models For 2025 And 5 For 2026

The Swedish carmaker is fresh on the heels of its best-ever performance on the sales charts in 2024

Volvo will launch 5 models in 2025 along with an additional 5 vehicles in 2026. That is quite a huge commitment and a clear indication that the Swedish auto giant is going all-in. With a record 763,389 sales in 2024, the company wants to keep the momentum going. Therefore, we will see new products, as well as upgrades to the existing vehicles in these two years, i.e., 2025 and 2026.

Volvo Cars President and CEO, Jim Rowan, officially shared its product roadmap for the coming future. It includes addressing just about every car segment it operates in like SUVs, sedans, wagons and everything in between. The first product will be the Volvo EX30 Cross Country which will debut on February 10, 2025. It is a rugged iteration of the small electric SUV. Then we will witness the fully electric ES90 sedan.

Interestingly, the CEO said that it is “one of the flagship models” to showcase Volvo’s “technology capabilities”. Already teased, the electric sedan will arrive in March 2025. Apart from that, there will also be a new “long-range PHEV” specifically for the Chinese market. On top of that, he even mentioned “meaningful upgrades” for two existing models. One of these might well be the XC60.

For 2026, the Volvo EX60 could be one of the 5 launches. Jim Rowan captioned it as a “game changer” due to a “great progress on this car”. It will use the new SPA3 architecture which will bring “enhanced core computing capability” and a “far more scalable” design in comparison to the current SPA2 platform. Clearly, the Swedish car marque looks ahead for a promising 2025 and 2026.

He remarked, “The depth and the variety of our balanced product portfolio is one of our greatest assets. We will expand the lineup of fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and mild-hybrid cars, and continue to offer world-class products in all segments: SUVs, sedans, wagons, in terms of size: 30, 40, 60, 90. And we’ll do this in over 80 countries around the world.“

Interestingly, Jim admitted that 2025 could be a turbulent year for the EV industry in general. He acknowledges that “the industry is facing several uncertainties: cyclical, structural, transformational and geopolitical”. Nevertheless, he clearly has a concrete plan to carry on the sales momentum with tons of updates and new products. I shall keep an eye out for how things unfold in the coming months.
