The German car marque has previewed the upcoming cheapest electric vehicle in its portfolio
The VW ID. Every1 will bear the tag of being the most affordable EV in VW’s lineup. Teased in the concept form a few days ago, some fresh details have emerged. VW says that it will cost around €20,000 ($21,000 USD) and will hit the showroom floors in the next two years. Note that the production version of the ID. 2all is slated for launch next year. Clearly, the brand is focusing on mass market EVs to grow its EV business in the times to come.

The fresh images capture the exterior styling and interior layout of the affordable EV. At the front, it gets those rectangular headlamps with a black panel connecting them. The vertically positioned LED DRLs on the extreme edges of the bumper invoke a modern vibe. Furthermore, the compact ORVMs certainly look like they will need a more realistic touch in the production model.
Apart from that, the side section contains flush-fitting door handles along with dual-tone alloy wheels. The black A and B-pillars look sleek. At the rear, we witness a rather subtle bumper with vertical reflector lights and a piano black panel between the taillamps which bear a similar shape as the headlights.
On the inside, the almost rectangular steering wheel comes with physical buttons while the dashboard is quite minimalist. However, the massive free-standing touchscreen infotainment display with a compact HVAC panel underneath certainly elevates the in-cabin feel. Also, tiny screen as the driver’s instrument cluster is certainly unique. It remains to be seen how much of this will make it to the production model.
Lastly, the VW ID. Every1 will be front-wheel drive which will use the MEB platform. Even though the official details regarding the battery and performance are not available, the German car marque anticipates a driving range of around 250 km (156 miles) on WLTP on a single charge. While that might not seem too promising, it could just work for a city car like the ID. Every1. Also, the single motor can produce 94 hp and boast a top speed of 130 km/h (80 mph). Nevertheless, concrete information will surface in the coming months.
